THOMARIOS Specialty Group’s wood and metal shop has both fabricated pieces and parts but also designed and created items for many interesting projects. From remanufacturing parts and items for aerospace and aircraft static displays to building mobile decontamination units. THOMARIOS has the creativity and the right people to make your specialty project a reality. We invite you to take a look at what our specialty group is capable of.
Project Spotlight: Portable Command Centers, Lockheed Martin
THOMARIOS was contracted by Lockheed Martin to construct several portable command centers from sea containers. These command centers were built to Lockheed Martin Specifications. The Millennium Gun Command Center was built for the use and testing of the Millennium Gun. The Millennium Gun is a naval defense used for threats both in the air and on the sea. The Millennium Gun can fire up to 1000 rounds per minute with long distance accuracy. Another portable command center was built for the SHIELDS program, which was created for naval defensive measures from air to surface missiles.
Aerospace/ Aircraft Display and Scale Model Replicas
THOMARIOS Specialty Group has fabricated replicas such as two smaller scale Stealth F117A-Nighthawk Fighters, both of which hang off of the Gas Turbine Testing Facility at the University of Akron. In addition to the Nighthawks we also duplicated a BA-1 Mercury capsule from an original of which we restored. The duplicate is set atop the Titan Rocket that we restored for the New York Hall of Science while the restored original is on display inside the museum.
Another interesting fabrication was done for the USS Intrepid Aircraft Carrier Museum in Hudson Bay, New York. This involved a complete restoration of a Gemini capsule and a complete fabrication of the rescue flotation devices that were used in picking up the capsule from sea after missions. Both the Capsule and flotation devices are hanging as they once did during rescue from the side of the USS Intrepid.
Decontamination Units
THOMARIOS constructed its own portable locker rooms, wash stations, and decontamination units for its employees. The metal shop also created custom-made conference tables. The 12 ft. long tables are comprised of brushed aluminum, polished stainless steel and a one ton slab of granite.
